For some reason I used to think The Serpent King is a fantasy book, then I learnt it’s actually contemporary fiction. Surprise! The title got me for that one. Had I scrutinised the cover sooner, I probably wouldn’t have had that mistaken belief. In any case, this week I’m most looking forward to Map of Fates.

When it comes to hotly anticipated YA releases, science fiction and fantasy generally overshadow other genres on YA book blogs. Looking at this week’s releases however, it’s evident that contemporary fiction too is thriving. While I hadn’t heard of most of these contemporary YA books before, I’ve picked out a couple that might interest me.
Hot off the Press – Feb 22, 2016
This week’s a great week because A Gathering of Shadows is coming out tomorrow. I know, I’ve yet to read A Darker Shade of Magic — I just knew waiting for the sequel would be easier that way. I often prefer to read sequels very soon after starting a series. That being said, altogether five books I’ve been waiting for are published this week, so that’s a lot of excitement!

This week I’m most excited about the US release of Red Ink. It was the first book I reviewed here on the blog, and for all the book pushing, not so many have gotten hold of it. So, if you have the chance to read it, I say, go for it! I’ve also has my eye on Beautiful Broken Things, which I’m starting to read today.
