For over two years, I regularly rounded up the latest young adult releases as well as reissued paperback editions. Each round took me at least two hours or three to pull together all the titles. These are hours that I’m no longer prepared to invest in collating book releases.
I know a few of you heavily relied on these posts (thank you!) but the reality is, the weekly page views barely make up 1%. That doesn’t make a dent at all, seeing how I average three to four posts per week.
Now, many book bloggers insist page views don’t matter. In part, they are right. Blogging about books is a hobby and what matters first is that we enjoy it. Then again, when something is so labour intensive with no returns (I don’t earn from blogging) and makes such a tiny impact, it’s time to reevaluate.
My plan is to use the hours I would’ve spent on Hot off the Press posts for reading more books and writing other posts. I’ve not been doing much about discussion posts lately, which I miss. I love those because I get to hear your opinions and interact more with fellow bibliophiles. So yes, that’s where I intend to concentrate my efforts instead.
Not to leave you hanging, you can refer to listopia on Goodreads to find out which YA books are coming up. Here is the January 2018 list of YA releases. These monthly lists tend to be US-centric but they’re a start. For UK releases, there’s a UKYA in 2018 list, or you can check out publishers’ websites, like Hot Key Books and My Kinda Book run by Macmillan Children’s Books.
Once again, thank you for sticking around and I hope you will continue to visit Word Revel for my other content!

Thank you for all your hard work collecting the books for this post! I think I’m one of those people that relies heavily on this post, but I also understand why you discontinue it. People often say that blogging is a hobby but we also invest so much time for it, it’s just felt disheartening when it doesn’t feel rewarding :)

Thank you, Tasya! You were among those who commented the most on those posts, which kept me at it for so long. For that, thank you too! :)

Oh no what a shame. These posts were my number 1 resource for new releases. How sad that they weren’t viewed by many other people but I understand your decision and really appreciate the time you have put into the past posts. I hope you’ll enjoy your newly won freetime ;D

Aww man! I hope the links I provided will help you keep an overview of new book releases! And thank you, I’m sure I will :D

We can say that statistics, numbers, views and all don’t matter, but it’s still rewarding when you invested so much time into something. I’m looking forward to see all you do with this time! 😃
