Redesigned book covers of paperback and re-releases intrigue me every week. For books that were first published more than two years ago, the new designs make them look fresher. At the same time, they show the design trends of their times.
As for paperback releases following their hardcovers a year later, I sometimes wonder why anyone bothered redesigning for the paperbacks. Very often the original covers look a lot better. Perhaps that’s supposed to entice readers to buy the more expensive hardcovers? On the other hand, sometimes I’m glad that the difference in designs gives me the option to choose the edition I favour.
