Bout of Books 16: TBR pile for coming read-a-thon

Joining Bout of Books 16

Back in January I took part in Bout of Books for the very first time. While the outcome of that read-a-thon wasn’t all too stellar for me, I’ve since picked up my reading groove and am looking for a little bit of extra motivation. With that, I’m in again this round.

TBR Pile

Naturally, there are a lot of books I want to read. At the same time, I’ve learnt that I rarely stick to a planned reading list. My whims and fancies cause my nose to land in entirely different books. I do plan to finish reading the books I have already started — Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios and The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson.

Beyond the books I’ve already started, I picked out a reserve of books I might choose from. These are in various formats which I’ll pick to suit my circumstances.

Audio

  • The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Ebooks

  • Life After Falling by Alyssa Rose Ivy
  • Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally
  • The Year We Fell Apart by Emily Martin
  • Regenbogenasche by Anke Weber

Print

  • Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  • The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (re-read)
  • Tonight the Streets are Ours by Leila Sales
  • The Memory of Light by Francisco X. Stork

Dreamer spirited by reading and photography. #insixwords #boutofbooks

Day 2, May 10

#boutofbooks Day 2 challenge: #shelfie4boutofbooks My #bookshelf looks pretty constant throughout the year since I hardly place any ornaments on it. In any case, I'm sure the #bookishrainbow arrangement is decoration enough for my study 😄

Reading Progress

Bout of Books 16 Days 1 & 2: The Square Root of Summer, Tonight the Streets are Ours , and The Unexpected Everything

Day 1, May 9

Finished: The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood

Pages read: 158

When I signed up, I assumed I would finish reading The Square Root of Summer before this week began. In the end I didn’t manage to but that also means I finished a book on the first day!

Day 2, May 10

Started: The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, Tonight the Streets are Ours by Leila Sales

Finished: The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Pages read: 12

Listening time: 16h 43 mins (= ca. 528 pages)

Truth be told, I listened to the audiobook on 3x speed. Original narration spreads are always too slow for me and in the case of The Unexpected Everything even slower than the average audiobook. Either way, audiobooks are always great companions when editing photos.

Day 3, May 11

Continued: Tonight the Streets are Ours by Leila Sales

Pages read: 38

So nice to see that you read quite a lot for bout of books. I had to leave midway and managed to finish just one book. And the pictures are just amazing, as always

Your bookshelves are a thing of bookish beauty!! They definitely don’t need decorating!

It sounds like you’re making good progress with the readathon – I hope that continues for you. Also, I didn’t know you could speed up audiobooks until you tweeted about it, so thanks for sharing that!

I’m sure I mentioned this before but I must remind everyone that the PB for Illuminae is so cute; so itty-bitty in comparison. That is all from my useless comment.

Ambitious! I’m also joining and I’m aiming for three books, but I’m still not sure which ones. I think I will just go with my mood and pick them as I go :) Happy reading and good luck!

Lol. I know it’s ambitious, especially since that book has more than 700 pages and I’m still at the beginning but I didn’t wanna put it off. Besides, I’m hoping the read-a-thon will give me that added push to keep reading it. And thank you for the encouragement, Tasya! :)
