There are a lot of blogs that I read regularly. In order to stay on top of them, I’ve come to embrace RSS feeds. Years ago I used to simply bookmark the URLs and visit all the blogs one by one. With the burgeoning blogs I read though, that’s a very time-consuming undertaking, so I very much prefer to read via RSS feed readers.

One habit that I picked up when I was still in third grade was to carry a book with me wherever I went. Even when my mother scolded that my bags were too heavy, I was undeterred. Case in point, I still carry a book with me no matter where I go.

When it came to series, I was convinced that I was in the midst of five or maybe six of them but surely no more than ten. This week I found out that I was way off the mark with my estimations. The current tally is a grand total of 24. I found out because I decided I had to come up with a system to track them and so set out to do up a spreadsheet.

I haven’t done the Math yet, I did save a few hundreds of dollars on the books I read last year. This is because I borrowed and read a lot of library books instead of buying them. (Although, I still bought a fair amount of books.) It’s one of the many reasons I love libraries.

New year’s is the time to make resolutions or at least to decide whether or not we are game for resolutions. On a personal level, I rarely make resolutions. But when it comes to reading, I have taken to setting yearly goals. As with any hobby, I usually aim to better myself in one way or another. This is where reading challenges come into play.
