Love-A-Thon 2016: Book Spine Poetry

February 21, 2016

Love-a-thon 2016 Book Spine Poetry

Book spine poetry is always so much fun to do. Naturally, I was stoked that it’s been included as a challenge again this year. To see more poems, be sure to visit all the blogs linked up on Alexa’s post. Be sure to visit Alexa’s lovely co-hosts too who together made this year’s Love-A-Thon possible: Mel from The Daily Prophecy, Hazel from Stay Bookish and Cee from The Novel Hermit.

Without further ado, let me present to you an entire series of book spine poetry. My sister saw me dissect my bookshelf in a bid to compose a bunch of poems. She thought it’d be fun to join in too, so she did. I came up with:

  • Secrets and Lies
  • The Fix
  • Broken Strings, Escaping Perfect

My sister contributed:

  • Exile
  • Drama

Secrets and Lies

Girls in pants

Catching fire.

Love-a-thon 2016 Book Spine Poetry - The Fix

The Fix

After summer, the girl from everywhere

Arranged beautiful, broken things —

Fixing Delilah.

Love-a-thon 2016 Book Spine Poetry - Exile

Exile

Banished into the still blue

Like it never happened.

Hello?

Love-a-thon 2016 Book Spine Poetry - Drama

Drama

Say the word;

Second time around —

Small damages.

Secrets and lies —

Fractured

Very in pieces.

P.S. I love you.

P.S. I still love you.

Love-a-thon 2016 Book Spine Poetry - Broken Strings Escaping Perfect

Broken Strings, Escaping Perfect

Hello? Zac and Mia?

Truest, your voice is all I hear…

Feeling sorry for Celia, the ex-debutante;

Too hot to handle second time around.

When reason breaks — these girls!

Forget tomorrow.

Breathe!

What would Emma do?

Exile?

Which of these book spine poems do you like the best?

I LOVE how you added the “title” to the side. Also – this is my favorite:

    Drama

    Say the word;
    Second time around —
    Small damages.
    Secrets and lies —
    Fractured
    Very in pieces.
    P.S. I love you.
    P.S. I still love you.

    More, please!

:O You both are really skilled! I had to write my poem with extra words – I couldn’t fathom doing it with ONLY book spine words :/ Great job to the both of you ! I have to say, I really like Exile and The Fix! :)
Are you and your sister competing to see which one of your poems is the most liked? I know that for me, if I ever did this with my sister, we’d actually be squabbling over it! xD

WOW, WOW, WOWWWWWW JOSEPHINE. You and your sister did a fantastic job. So very impressed by the 6+ spine poems. ;D

I think my favorite has to be Exile. I can just imagine the “hello?” being spoken in a vast of emptiness. Love that imagery.

These are all really good! I think my favorite is the one labelled Exile! So good! Mine turned into more a book spine story, but it was fun to do! Good job!

These are so great! Your photos are amazing! I love Exile the best: it was short but had a big impact in those three lines!

Oh my gosh, these are all so wonderful! I only did one poem this time around- kudos to you and your sister for doing all these. I love The Fix one most! And as always, lovely shots. <3 I'm so terrible with white background shots. :((
