Mise-en-scène: Bookmarks

Mise-en-scene: Bookmarks – Pride & Prejudice

The funny thing about me is that I don’t like using my favourite bookmarks. I still like using nice one but the nicest ones stay tucked away in my drawers. This Korean embroidered bookmark is a prime example. It looks so pretty and I find it too exquisite to use. See, I’m always afraid of losing them. I already lost one bookmark that I particularly loved between the pages of a library book. Sadly, I only realised this when I returned home from dropping my books at the library.

How do you feel about bookmarks?

And that is why I always do a “fan flip” through the library books by the book drop before I actually return them. :P Owning a lot of bookmarks sort of encourages me (not sure in a good or bad way) to read more than one book at once, since I want to actually use my bookmarks! I don’t think I have a problem using my prettier bookmarks though, but maybe I just haven’t possess one that I reeeeeeeeeally love.

I am the exact same way. I keep my favourite book marks tucked away for safe keeping. I have two of the same bookmarks signed by Suzanne Young, and I suppose I could use one of them, but I can’t convince myself to. I also recently received two Captain Hook (from Once Upon a Time) bookmarks in the mail and I almost want to frame them because I love them so much. I’d be scared I would ruin them if I used them.

It was a gift from a friend who’s from South Korea :)

I lose bookmarks so it makes me not to want to get really nice ones, but at the same time, sometimes people post pictures of their pretty bookmarks and I think well maybe if I had one that was that awesome I wouldn’t lose it… I can’t blame you for wanting to keep your best ones tucked away! Also, I love that cover for Pride and Prejudice! So pretty!

I once received one of those metal bookmarks with a lovely butterfly charm as a gift only to lose it to a returned library books a few months later. I was so sad about that one, I didn’t use any bookmarks for a couple of years. Now I use the Book Depository bookmarks since I have so many duplicates anyway. Lol.

And yes! This edition is my favourite of the lot and motivated me to finally read the classic for the first time.
