Mise-en-scène: Jewellery

August 21, 2015

Mise-en-scene: Jewellery – Red Ink by Julie Mayhew

When it comes to jewellery, I find the best way to find balance is to pick one statement piece. For me that either means bracelets or earrings. Seeing how I like to keep things simple, more often than not, I end up matching colours. For example, if I’m wearing a green dress, I prefer to wear a green-toned bracelet or will rummage for green earrings. Once in a while when the mood strikes me, I go with contrasting colours that make everything look bolder.

The best part is if a book I’m currently reading matches too. Not that I wear books, obviously, but it just makes me happy to keep order. That’s probably why the majority of the everyday items I own are red. When I carry my blue backpack, I almost always wear my blue canvas shoes. When I carry my brown camera bag, I naturally will go for my brown flats. It’s no wonder that even when it comes to jewellery, I find completeness in colour-coordination.

THEM LUSCIOUS LONG LACEY LATITUDINAL LINES OF WEAVES. (Alliteration is not my forte, okay?) You have hair; this is news to me. HAIR THAT IS ON FIRE. Wut?

Balancing act, you mean? ;) The books on my finger tip and not floating. Hoho. And thank you, Alexandra! <3

This photo is stunning (also, how the hell do you do that? SO COOL). I love the bracelet! I’m not a jewellery person – not for lack of trying – but I wish I was one of those people who can accessorize and always look put together and be so chic but I’m just NOT. It’s sad really.

Several takes with the fastest possible shutter speed and some photo editing. Heh. Well, I think the easiest is to pick one accessory to match an outfit. If I pick more than one or two, I get very overwhelmed as well.

I really like the color of your bracelet in this photo! I’m very simple when it comes to my jewelry. Like you, I prefer statement pieces and colors that enhance my current outfit! I also really love jewelry that expresses my interests and fandoms ;)

Thank you. Alexa :) I love bright pops of colour like that. Haha. Fandom and expression of interests through jewellery sounds really cool and sure does add personality! Though I’ve never gotten into those myself.
