Mise-en-scène #22: Sun

Mise-en-scene Sun: Contemporary YA book stack

What better books to read in summer than contemporary ones? As much as I have recently fallen into the pits of fantasy, sunny days make me wanna curl up with books that add to the summery mood.

The best time to sit outdoors to read is in the late afternoons till sundown when it’s still bright enough but not too hot. Nowadays the noon sun seriously scorches down on us with temperatures easily reaching 32°C and up, so reading outdoors sadly isn’t ideal all day long.

In any case, I pulled out some books from my TBR pile that I plan to read this summer. I expect this book stack is bound to set me in the right mood to enjoy the sun while lazing around.

Do you like to read in the sun? Which books have you lined up to read this summer?

Sadly summer days don’t treat Georgie as kindly, so she hides from the sun (and the pollen it brings with it). Still, she’s glad she gets to read more. Also, if you’re participating in Mise-en-scène, remember to leave your link to your photo in the linky widget down below!

Mise-en-scène is a weekly feature/meme that Georgie and I created to challenge ourselves in (bookish) photography.

I love reading in the sun! It’s seriously soothing, to me anyway, to be out under the sun and have it shining on my face. Love your photo (and I’m excited for you to read Since You’ve Been Gone)!

I enjoy sitting in the sun to read, so long as the temperatures don’t rise too high. I’ll be sure to write status updates on GR when I get round to reading it ;)

Ah, I love how you took this photo. I have never tried reading a book at the beach because I don’t want the sand or water to get on my books, but maybe I’ll try it someday. The beach feels relaxing even more when you’re reading a book ^.^

You should definitely try it! I love reading while listening to the waves crashing. It’s so peaceful — I love it.

Yet another lovely photo, Josephine! I’m afraid the days of summer here in the Philippines have already ended LOL. But I did do a lot of reading under the sun during the summer days and I mostly read contemporaries!

Thank you, Miguel :) Well, the heat still is engulfing the Philippines, no? Even if the school year has already started. Hoho. Either way, yes, contemporaries are so well suited for summer.
