Mise-en-scène #9: Night Stand

March 20, 2015

My Night Stand

My night stand isn’t so much a night stand as a small bookshelf. Since I already have the bookshelf and my piano in my room, I didn’t see the need to get a dedicated night stand. I like how spacious the top is, though I don’t have a lot of things on it at the moment.

For the most part, you’d find the books I’m currently reading, my iPad, my Kindle and some simple decoration. At the moment, the books I have lying there are The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.

On my iPad I have non-fiction review copies of Girls, Texts, Cultures by Clare Bradford and Post-TV: Piracy, Cord-Cutting and the Future of Television by Michael Strangelove. As for my Kindle, it houses a collection of ebooks that I hope to read in the near future.

Since I’m almost always in the midst of multiple books, I’m glad I now have my make-shift night stand to keep. Up till recently I never had a night stand. For years I used to leave things on the floor beside my bed. A night stand is just so much neater.

Mise-en-scène is a weekly feature/meme that Georgie and I created to challenge ourselves in (bookish) photography.

I love the use of colour.

As of now, I don’t have a nightstand, but we are in the process of redoing our bedroom and I’m making room for a nightstand – I miss having one. You’re right, it is a lot neater. Clusters of things easily form around the room otherwise.

I have The Miniaturist on my unread shelf. I did give it ago not too long ago but I ended up putting it back down. I think I still had a lot of the hype in my mind and so I needed to rid myself of that. I’ll pick it up again soon.
    :-)

      Thank you, Jade! :)

When I lived in dorms during my uni days, I always used my desk chair as a night stand at night to combat the messiness. Hahaha.

I shouldn’t be surprised at all that your pillow is red!

Lol. Of course! I was ecstatic when I found red pillow cases last December xD
