Preview: Confess

May 7, 2015

Listening to the audiobook Confess

Colleen Hoover is name I’ve seen floating around a lot yet never really paid much attention to. I own Maybe Someday but have yet to read it. When I saw the cover of Confess though, I decided to see what it’s about. Based on the watercolour inspired cover, I hoped it would involve art. It does.

I love books that revolve around art, so when I found out that the audiobook of Confess was available to me via Overdrive, I borrowed it.

Expectations

Seeing how the author is Colleen Hoover, this is a New Adult book. For the most part that means romance, no? Though what most caught my eye when I read the synopsis was the parallels between the subjectivity of truth and art.

While I’m not expecting a philosophical exploration of Kant and the aesthetic theory, I’m all for intelligent plot motivations. I hope that intelligence amidst the romance is what I will see in Confess when I’m done listening to the audiobook.

When it comes to book reviews, the focus is on thoughts after books have been read. We forget why we chose to read a particular book in the first place. Thus I seek to capture my thoughts with Unveiled as I start reading a book.

I’ve read one of Colleen Hoover’s books- I think Slammed?- and I was not fond of it. So now I’m wary of reading any of her books.
Granted, Confess sounds good and from your thoughts, unique. I can’t wait to see your verdict so I can decide. :P

Awesome photo you got there! I have to agree with you what caught my attention was the cover. SO PRETTY. And when I read the synopsis, what a surprise — it’s about art! I really hope the author incorporates the art element well and not just use it as a mere plot device.
