Project 52 – Tea vs. Coffee

February 5, 2016

Bookish Scene: Tea vs. Coffee — Open book and ginger teaBetween tea and coffee there’s no contest for me in the least. Tea wins any day. From ginger to peppermint, from green to Earl Grey, from masala chai to fruit teas, there’s so much variety to choose from. Growing up with all sorts of teas taught me appreciation for tea from a very young age, much like my love for books was fostered since before I first learnt to read. Today I find nothing more comforting than settling down with a good book and a mug of hot tea.

Project 52 – Off the Beaten Path

January 29, 2016

Bookish Scene: Off the Beaten Path — The Big Lie by Julie Mayhew“Off the beaten path” in relation to books can mean a great deal of things: underrated reads, quirky book covers, very original stories, etc. This theme made me thing of The Big Lie by Julie Mayhew because of its genre, which is alternate history.

Project 52 – Into the Night

January 22, 2016

Bookish Scene: Into the Night — This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila SalesThe first book that came to mind in relation to this week’s theme, Into the Night, was This Song Will Safe Your Life by Leila Sales. Most of the story is set at night as Elise tends to get out of the house when she can’t sleep. Then she discovers DJing and the nights fully take over her life. Naturally, it’s a book that embodies the meaning of carrying on into the night.

Project 52 – Wanderlust

January 15, 2016

Bookish Scene: Wanderlust — My Best Friend,Maybe by Caela CarterThis brings me to where I want to go next. As an avid reader, of course I want to visit places that books have taken me to. While I’m not a fan of road trip books, I love books that sweep me up into the distance. My Best Friend, Maybe by Caela Carter is a stellar example of that. I almost felt like I was walking along the streets of Greece reading that book and it made me want to visit Greece even more than I ever did before.
