Project 52 – Off the Beaten Path

January 29, 2016

Bookish Scene: Off the Beaten Path — The Big Lie by Julie Mayhew

“Off the beaten path” in relation to books can mean a great deal of things: underrated reads, quirky book covers, very original stories, etc. This theme made me thing of The Big Lie by Julie Mayhew because of its genre, which is alternate history.

Through this book the reader’s taken to times that didn’t come to exist, and so have gone off the beaten path. However, in the context of this book, there was plausibility as well. Had World War II ended differently, the German Empire would’ve expanded and that is precisely what The Big Lie tried to grapple with.

What books does this week’s theme make you think of?
