Project 52 – Tea vs. Coffee

February 5, 2016

Bookish Scene: Tea vs. Coffee — Open book and ginger tea

Between coffee and tea, tea wins any day. From ginger to peppermint, from green to Earl Grey, from masala chai to fruit teas, there’s so much variety to choose from. Growing up with all sorts flavours taught me appreciation for it from a very young age — much like my love for books was fostered since before I first learnt to read.

Nothing is more comforting than settling down with a good book and a mug of hot tea.

If I had to give up drinking one of the two, I’d definitely be able to live without coffee. But tea? It’s my sustenance whenever I run out of energy and my sunshine on dark and dreary days. They say caffeine in coffee can boost moods. I don’t believe that. Me without tea wouldn’t function even half as well.

What is your hot beverage of choice?

Even though my blog is called Books & Tea, this question is actually pretty hard for me to answer. I love the variety of tea to choose from (I’m currently drinking Earl Grey Chai from a brand called Teabox). And the experience I have while drinking tea is different from drinking coffee. Maybe this is weird, but tea makes me feel. I can drink a green tea in the middle of winter and instantly be transported to a sunny day in spring. Coffee could never do that.

But, I am also very much a coffee drinker. And I drink it black and strong and also (accidentally) a little sludgy because I don’t get my grounds to water ration quite right. I need that bold kick in the morning– the flavor that jolts me awake before the caffeine has time to work.

If I was forced to give up one, I would give up coffee, but it would take me some time. I drink A LOT of caffeine throughout the day. If I don’t have a cup of coffee by about 9:00AM, I start to get painful withdrawal headaches, and trying to chase those away with tea doesn’t work very well.

Team Coffee. I’m totally addicted. I’ll drink the occasional chai, but otherwise the teas I’ve tried haven’t really appealed to me.

Tea!!! I also love both but I couldn’t live without tea. I try to stay away from caffeine so that makes my options slightly more limited, and tea has so many more choices for decaf than coffee does (I also prefer iced coffee over hot). Teavana teas are my favorite. I love anything fruity, decaf green tea, and lemon black tea. There are very few teas that I dislike other than chai!

One of the things I regret in life is the fact that I never liked tea. It seems like the perfect thing for me to drink in the winter, because I’m always cold. I need to stick with my hot cocoa.

Tea wins over coffee every day – I don’t think I’ve even tried coffee but the smell alone puts me off. I only drink the one tea though, which is considered ‘British Breakfast Tea’ I believe, although here in the UK it’s just known as tea because it’s the most commonly drunk here but it’s like a PG Tip/Tetley tea if that means anything to you. Haha!

My overall hot drink of choice would probably be a hot chocolate though.

Also, love the picture, and the prompt.

Coffee is so gross. The only thing I like about it is the smell. Tea on the other hand is amazing

Tea! Tea all the way! I’m not one for coffee unless it’s flavoured and iced which means it’s generally only something that I can get outside of home which = spending money that I don’t have. There are so many varieties of tea but for me nothing beats a good ol’ english breakfast tea, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, before bed, watching netflix, reading, anything really.

It is impossible to pick just one. I drink coffee AND tea daily. I literally cant function without coffee since I suffer from low blood pressure but I absolutely love all kinds of teas and I drink them all the time.

I love you photo! I am more of a coffee person ,but do prefer herbal tea if it’s before bedtime.
By the way, can you please tell me what book is that? The greek texts interested me, thank you!

I’m a horrible person and can’t even stand tea. IT PAINS ME. I think it’d be so nice to curl up with a book and some tea (especially in winter!!) but, nopity nope, it doesn’t work for me. I like coffee but try not to drink it too much. XD Hot chocolate with coconut milk though. <3
ALSO THAT PHOTO IS MUCH PRETTY.
