Epic Recs: February 2015

February 19, 2015

Epic Recs Feb 2015 - Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley and A Blind Spot for Boys by Justina ChenTo start off, Hazel recommended Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. It’s one of her favourite contemporary/Australian YA books. The best part is I already owned it, so I just had to bump it up my TBR pile.

Mise-en-scène #4: Best Friends

February 13, 2015

Friends Forever paperweightI will never forget my 13th birthday. That year, my best friend gave me the most memorable gift: the gift of books. She hauled a huge tote bag with about 20 or so books to my family’s apartment. Then she declared that she had taken the books that were most dear to her and decided to loan them to me to read. We were only children after all, so we couldn’t afford to actually buy each other presents.

Achieved colour balance for Kindle with bock cover on what floral bedsheetsWhen it comes to photographing ebook readers, smartphones and tablets, rendering colours correctly can be somewhat tricky. The screen of my Kindle Paperwhite often has a much stronger blue tint than my eyes perceive. My iPhone screen tends to look a lot more pink in photos than it should.

Retrospect #56-58 (Triple Edition): February 8

February 9, 2015

All the Bright PlacesIt’s been a while since I last wrote a Retrospect post and I’m a day late. Hah. That’s mostly because the past weeks have been a whirlwind. Besides work, I’ve training with my club twice a week and we’ve got a league match every weekend. I also tutor on weekends, so when I have time left, I mostly want to catch up on reading my books. Oh and The 100! Yes, The 100, the TV series.

Reading on the Go

February 7, 2015

Open book on lap for reading on the goOne habit that I picked up when I was still in third grade was to carry a book with me wherever I went. Even when my mother scolded that my bags were too heavy, I was undeterred. Case in point, I still carry a book with me no matter where I go.
