A QUIET KIND OF THUNDER by Sara Barnard

January 15, 2017

Book cover & rating – A QUIET KIND OF THUNDER by Sara BarnardBefore A Quiet Kind of Thunder, I had never read a book involving a character with selective mutism, nor a character who is deaf. It didn’t occur to me previously that I hadn’t until I had the opportunity to review this book. I was a little unsure if I would like it because it’s primarily a romance novel. On the flip side, Sara Barnard wrote this and I really enjoyed her debut, Beautiful Broken Things, so I was still curious.

Bout of Books 18 — Launching the new year with a read-a-thon (TBR pile)It’s been a while since I last took part in a read-a-thon, so I decided to sign up for Bout of Books 18. This round will be from Jan 2 to 8, 2017. Great way to start the new year. Well, in theory, seeing how I’m not the greatest at read-a-thons. Hah.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF DASH AND LILY by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

December 22, 2016

Book cover & rating -THE TWELVE DAYS OF DASH AND LILY by Rachel Cohn & David LevithanThis book does not live up to the preceding Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares. I’ve listened to the audiobook, and reread the paperback. I’m sure I’ll reread it again in future. The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily, however, is a book I most likely won’t revisit. It’s neither quirky nor charming — the very reasons I enjoy Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares. These elements went completely missing in this long-awaited sequel.
