After Georgie wrapped up January of Bookish Scene: Project 52, I have the pleasure today of unveiling the February themes! As you can see from the theme card for the upcoming month, we’ve selected the following themes.
Project 52 – Off the Beaten Path
REVOLUTION by Jennifer Donnelly
Revolution presented the obsession with music and 18th-century France in the face of post-traumatic stress disorder and mental illness. The combination of these added so many layers, I was immersed in Revolution for the entire duration of the audiobook. Living in contemporary times, Andi’s grief over the loss of her brother was palpable as she and her mother had completely fallen apart.
Yearning to Read off the Radar
Once upon a time, not so long ago, I declared that reading is social. I don’t think it’s possible to become untethered. Neither do I wish to become unplugged from the social aspects of reading. However, at times I do feel somewhat conflicted about it. Once in a while pre-publication hype wears me out. That’s why part of me yearns to read off the radar (again).
Project 52 – Into the Night
The first book that came to mind in relation to this week’s theme, Into the Night, was This Song Will Safe Your Life by Leila Sales. Most of the story is set at night as Elise tends to get out of the house when she can’t sleep. Then she discovers DJing and the nights fully take over her life. Naturally, it’s a book that embodies the meaning of carrying on into the night.
