Book Cover Culture #6: Wildlife

September 18, 2014

Wildlife - Wilder Sommer - Fiona WoodOriginally published in Australia last lear June, Wildlife hit the international arena this year — April in Germany and the past week in the USA. The German title, Wilder Sommer doesn’t deviate too much from the English titles. Translated it means “wild summer” which is pretty clear, in my opinion.

LOGO DESIGN LOVE by David Airey

September 17, 2014

LOGO DESIGN LOVE by David AireyLogo Design Love is a book that borrows the name of the author’s website, also Logo Design Love. When I picked up this book, I didn’t know that. September 15, 2014

THE STRANGE AND BEAUTIFUL SORROWS OF AVA LAVENDER by Leslye WaltonThe Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender and I developed a love-hate relationship of sorts. The promises made in the prologue was wondrous and I was so excited to continue reading. By the time I reached the end I felt empty. I loved the style of writing adopted in the prologue. It captured my attention so vividly, I fully expected to fall in love with the rest of the story. Sadly, that didn’t happen.

Book Cover Culture #5: The Archived

September 13, 2014

BCC #5 - The Archived - Das Mädchen, das Geschichten fängt - Victoria SchwabI’m constantly surprised when I come across translated books with covers that are so vastly different from one another, you’d hardly think they’re of the same book. It particularly baffles me when the covers imply very different genres. That’s what happened with The Archived by Victoria Schwab.

Breaking Down Book Photography

September 12, 2014

Engaging in book photography“Why are you taking photos of your books?” Certainly, I’m not the only one who’s had to answer this question. As long as you blog about books, are a bookstagrammer or post book photography on Tumblr, someone is bound to have asked you this as well.
