For some reason, I’ve been feeling as though there’s been a slow-down in newly published YA releases. I couldn’t really put my finger on why, so I checked how things were exactly one year ago. Turns out, July maybe just is generally a slower month. But maybe it’s also because I’ve not been hearing a lot of hype about books coming out in the near future. So, I’d like to know from you, which books are you excited about this August?

Even though there are only six new YA releases this week, I’ve seen all three fantasy books hyped in the book blogosphere. Besides these, I recommend checking out these two re-releases: The Special Ones by Em Bailey and Fragile Like Us (a.k.a. Beautiful Broken Things) by Sara Barnard. Both of these got four stars from me.

There must be something about summer that makes publishers release more contemporary books than those of other genres. Besides the absence of historical fiction, though, this week still offers a rather varied range of new releases.
