Earlier this week I blogged about the SG50 warehouse book sale. I made it a point to pop by and obviously didn’t leave without books. All in all I hauled twenty books of which eighteen were for myself and two were for my dad. That stack is so massively heavy, I’m glad my parents suggested that I take along a hand carry luggage. Since I don’t drive, that saved me a lot of grief because weight no longer became an issue when selecting books.
Retrospect #80–81: July 19
June was such a slow reading month for me, I couldn’t help but look for ways to increase my July reading. I figured the Trees of Reverie read-a-thon was the perfect solution. While I’m not going to finish reading all six books I planned I planned for my read-a-thon TBR pile, I did make great progress compared to June. I also ended up counting A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller to my favourites this year. I adored this book so so much, I couldn’t stop hugging it when I finished it.
Retrospect #79: July 5
One concept which I’ve seen floating around but not believed in is reading slumps. I still think it’s an odd concept, given that it’s not like we need to read to sustain ourselves. Yet I must admit that I’ve been in a funk where books are concerned. I want to read but my mind has been rebelling at the sight of printed words on bound pages. To overcome that I’ve turned more to audiobooks.

Retrospect #73-75 (Triple Edition): June 7
As I’m writing up this Retrospect post, I am listening to EDM/House music. I can’t believe it myself but Joey put together a list of recs, so here I am. Usually I listen to acoustic-driven music, such as from singer-songwriters, folk and a dash of indie. Deviating from that is a huge step into the unknown for me. So far I’m pleasantly surprised. I don’t think I could listen to his kind of music the whole day long but once in a while, why not?
