April is Autism Awareness Month. In support of the campaign, this week’s theme is blue ombré spines to promote solidarity. Autism is often misunderstood because it exits on a spectrum, making it difficult to diagnose. Sadly, knowing that someone is autistic often changes our perception and behaviour towards them. It makes us forget that there is a person like you and me behind the condition.
You can learn more about autism from Autism Speaks. There also are resources to get involved and fundraising efforts listed on the website. Whether or not you choose to join an organisation, awareness starts with the individual. Educate yourselves, so that you may develop your empathy towards those who most need it in your lives.
How do you think we can each make a difference in the face of autism?
