Project 52 – April Showers

April 29, 2016

Bookish Scene: April Showers – sitting on a book stack by the window with rain bokehApril showers are the perfect reason to stay home. It’s such a cozy feeling, listening to the rhythm of the falling rain (why yes, I love that song), while reading. As a photographer, I also love how raindrops catch the light, so I was super excited to get creative with this week’s book photography challenge prompt.

Bookstagram 101: Hashtags

April 24, 2016

Bookstagram 101 - HashtagsHashtags on Instagram serve as a sorting function to help everyone find what they’re looking for. Searching for the hashtag #marissameyer will call up all the photos that have been tagged with it. Ideally, that would mean books written by Marissa Meyer or photos which she is depicted in.

Project 52 – Earth Day

April 22, 2016

Bookish Scene: Earth Day – Mint book stack on tree branchApril 22 is Earth Day. It’s such an important movement towards a sustainable and renewable earth. Our environment suffers so much from pollution. While we tend to think that we can hardly make a difference by reducing waste and our carbon footprint in general, we can. Put together every individual and the sum makes a whole load of difference. With today’s Bookish Scene theme, Georgie and I are raising our voices with our cameras for the movement. Will you join us?

THE FINAL EMPIRE by Brandon Sanderson

April 20, 2016

Book cover & rating - The Final Empire by Brandon SandersonIf I could only use one word to review The Final Empire, I would pick brilliant! Indeed, it is a brilliant book. The world building was impeccable and the laws of nature in this world were very exacting. What set it apart was the impact of metals and how they could be controlled through Allomancy and Feruchemy. These two systems had such logic and were so consistent that by the end of the book, I instinctively knew the outcomes of manipulating various metals.

Project 52 – Blue Ombré Spines

April 15, 2016

Bookish Scene: Blue Ombre Spines – Autism Awareness MonthApril is Autism Awareness Month. In support of the campaign, this week’s theme is blue ombré spines to promote solidarity. Autism is often misunderstood because it exits on a spectrum, making it difficult to diagnose. Sadly, knowing that someone is autistic often changes our perception and behaviour towards them. It makes us forget that that there is a person like you and me behind the condition.
