Hot off the Press – Apr 4, 2016

April 4, 2016

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comThis week the sheer amount of new book is incredibly overwhelming! At the same time, it’s amazing how much young adult publishing has grown over the past one, two decades. The only pity is that it’s impossible to read them all in one lifetime. Also, at the rate YA books are published, dedicated YA libraries should become a thing, no? Then the resources would exclusively be there to build up the YA collection, which would surely help less known authors.

Bookstagram 101: 28 Post Ideas

April 3, 2016

Bookstagram 101: 28 Post Ideas — Get back to basics when you're in a creative funkInspiration is sometimes hard to come by, especially when the subject matter constantly is books. My personal worry is that with time my photos will start to look the same. There are only so many ways to turn a book. Book stacks are popular but there’s not much to them beyond y’know, stacking books.

April 1, 2016

Bookish Scene: Humour – Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops by Jen CampbellHappy April Fools’ Day! This week’s theme is a very fitting one — Humour. Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops by Jen Campbell immediately came to mind. It’s a hilarious book which had me in stitches, and for anyone looking to prank book lovers, I’m sure you’d find inspiration from these anecdotes collected from bookshops around the world.

Project 52 – April Themes

March 31, 2016

Bookish Scene: Project 52 — April ThemesGenerally we like to keep themes open to interpretation. Occasionally we do include more specific ones like for Autism Awareness Month this April. Banding together to support causes adds visibility, so that’s our own little way of lending support. Either way, we prize creativity, so there hardly is a right or wrong approach. As long as books are involved and your photo fits the theme in some way, you’re golden.

SEVEN WAYS WE LIE by Riley Redgate

March 30, 2016

Book cover & rating - SEVEN WAYS WE LIE by Riley RedgateSeven Ways We Lie was very ambitious. With seven main characters a lot could go wrong: unresolved plot lines, not enough depth, loss of focus and characters that might be too similar. I’m glad to say that Seven Ways We Lie didn’t suffer from any of these shortcomings. In fact, the choice to integrate so many characters’ perspectives worked!
