This brings me to where I want to go next. As an avid reader, of course I want to visit places that books have taken me to. While I’m not a fan of road trip books, I love books that sweep me up into the distance. My Best Friend, Maybe by Caela Carter is a stellar example of that. I almost felt like I was walking along the streets of Greece reading that book and it made me want to visit Greece even more than I ever did before.
Cut the Lights by Karen Krossing
When it comes to contemporary fiction, I love books with protagonists who have ambition and passion for something. Cut the Lights fully delivered in that department. Drama and theatre were the main focus and very little detracted from that. I think in part that stemmed from the shortness of the book. The length didn’t allow for much else beyond theatre, which means there were no unnecessary distractions.

Only my guide to managing TBR piles has had more hits, mostly because that post is almost a year older. Another post I wrote that ranks very high is Bookstagram Safety.
Hot off the Press – Jan 11, 2016

Retrospect #106: January 10
Beginning of the week Jon @ Bookish Antics wrote an exposé, BEWARE: Catfished By A Fake Penguin Employee. Publishers Weekly later picked up on the story. Corinne Rosanna Catlin (who also goes by her author name Corinne Catlin) contacted several bloggers claiming to be a publicity assistant from Penguin Random House. Turns out it was an elaborate ploy to get her own book into the hands of reviewers.
