FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell

January 10, 2015

Book cover of FANGIRL by Rainbow RowellFangirl was funny and sweet and wonderful. What I liked best was the college setting without an intense focus on romance. This book was about Cath who tried to find herself, even though she felt she was losing everything. She so desperately tried to hold on to familiarity through her high school boyfriend, her father and most importantly to her, her twin sister Wren. For the first time, she had to be truly independent. I believe that for many, college is the time to find oneself and Rowell presented this transition very well in Fangirl.

Cleanliness of Library Books

January 8, 2015

New book spines
I haven’t done the Math yet, I did save a few hundreds of dollars on the books I read last year. This is because I borrowed and read a lot of library books instead of buying them. (Although, I still bought a fair amount of books.) It’s one of the many reasons I love libraries.

2015 Resolutions

January 3, 2015

2015 Planner with fountain penAfter weighing the pros and cons of reading challenges, it’s time that I outline my own goals and resolutions for the new year. Given that I have less time this year to read than I did last year, I decided to be more modest with my targets. That doesn’t mean I’m any less excited though. I mean, books and reading! Who wouldn’t be excited!

The Point of Reading Challenges

January 2, 2015

Colourful stacks of booksNew year’s is the time to make resolutions or at least to decide whether or not we are game for resolutions. On a personal level, I rarely make resolutions. But when it comes to reading, I have taken to setting yearly goals. As with any hobby, I usually aim to better myself in one way or another. This is where reading challenges come into play.

A BLIND SPOT FOR BOYS by Justina Chen

December 30, 2014

Book cover of A BLIND SPOT FOR BOYS by Justina ChenThis books is hands down my favourite book of 2014! I can say this with conviction to the highest degree because this is my last book review of the year. And I can already tell the two books I am currently reading will not trump A Blind Spot for Boys.
