A Thousand Nights is a magical book. The prose is exceedingly beautiful. If literary fiction were to bridge over to the young adult segment, this book would be a stellar example of the genre. In some ways, I think that if readers were to expect a slow story, magnificent in words over a fast-paced one, then the reviews wouldn’t have come to be as mixed as they are now.
Hot off the Press – Nov 23, 2015
I’m pretty stoked that Queen by Aimée Carter is finally releasing. I read Pawn when it first came out but didn’t continue with the sequel. I decided I’d rather wait for the trilogy to complete. This means I’ll be re-reading Pawn soon, so I can get on with Captive and then Queen. Which releases are you looking forward to this week?
Retrospect #99: November 22
Earlier this week I sent my phone for servicing. The top left corner of the screen was discoloured. Now I’m waiting for Apple to decide if they can fix it or will replace it. This breadth was also represented at the book for.
Mise-en-scène: Cityscape
Translated, the title Das Lied der Träumerin by Tanya Stewner means the song of the dreamer. That’s what this book is about: chasing dreams of music in London. That’s why you’ll recognize snippets of the London cityscape on this book cover. I’ve yet to read it, but I added it to my book collection because apparently the protagonist plays the piano. I love the piano and books revolving around the piano.
