Challenges & Goals for 2019

January 2, 2019

Challenges and Goals for 20192018 was a whirlwind of a year for me with incredible highs and some of my worst lows. Looking back, there’s a lot to be grateful for but also a lot I wish I had dealt with differently. It’s because of these that this blog took quite a hit.

Waterstones Visit: 3 Books Hauled, 57 on My Wishlist

Waterstones Visit: 3 Books Hauled, 57 on My WishlistRecently, I spent nearly four weeks in the UK. During that time, I had the pleasure of visiting several bookstores. Of course, that included Waterstones Piccadilly, allegedly the largest bookshop in Europe. It’s definitely huge! I also popped into outlets in Richmond, Cambridge, Stoke-on-Trent and Bath. After all that browsing, I amassed a large folder of photos on my phone with books I’d added to my wishlist.

The Value of Read vs. Unread Books

The Value of Read vs Unread Books — Valuing books against the anti-library, tsundoku and minimalismA few years ago, I came across one of Sana’s Goodreads shelves that she had named anti-library. While the term still unsettles me as much today as it did back then, the idea behind it is a poignant one. You see, the anti-library contains books the owner hasn’t read, a point of greater importance to Umberto Eco. For many a reader, this is also known as the TBR (to be read) pile. Interestingly, several bloggers find that the TBR pile has become a source of stress, and some feel liberated without one.

February 2018 Overview

March 17, 2018

February 2018 OverviewFebruary was a little out of the ordinary for me. I only listened to one audiobook out of the 12 books that I finished. This also means I read more pages in print and ebook last month, getting though 3,937 pages. That’s more in January, even though I got through three more titles then. As for audiobooks, I listened to 5:37 hours (equalling 216 pages). The total equivalent was 4,153 pages. My average rating for these books was good too at 3.718 out of 5.

10 Things You Can Do While Listening to Audiobooks

March 12, 2018

10 Things You Can Do While Listening to Audiobooks — Sometimes print books aren’t an option, so here’s where audiobooks come inWhen it comes to reading, I embrace every format. Paperbacks, hardcovers, ebooks and audiobooks each have their time and place. The one format that’s made a the most difference for me though, is audiobooks. Without them, I’d get through significantly fewer titles each year. Why is that? I can listen to audiobooks when I might otherwise not be able to read.
