Earlier this week I blogged about the SG50 warehouse book sale. I made it a point to pop by and obviously didn’t leave without books. All in all I hauled twenty books of which eighteen were for myself and two were for my dad. That stack is so massively heavy, I’m glad my parents suggested that I take along a hand carry luggage. Since I don’t drive, that saved me a lot of grief because weight no longer became an issue when selecting books.

Zinio: Borrow or Subscribe to Digital Magazines
Earlier this week I discovered that amongst its e-resources, my library also offers digital magazines via Zinio. I knew all along about ebook loans via Overdrive and access to journals via JSTOR etc but somehow Zinio passed me by. With library subscriptions to selected digital magazines, library members can access the most recent issues. The best part is, unlike for ebooks on Overdrive, there’s no waiting time on Zinio. Pick a magazine and read it instantly.
Photography: Changing Hues
When it comes to post-processing photos, I usually try to fix colours such that they’re most true to life. Once in a while though, I find myself playing around with hues; such as the book cover of Vicious compelled me to do. By changing hues, I could render a myriad of alternative versions, which was loads of fun. Occasionally, being able to manipulate those colours can help make a photo stand out more.
Retrospect #80–81: July 19
June was such a slow reading month for me, I couldn’t help but look for ways to increase my July reading. I figured the Trees of Reverie read-a-thon was the perfect solution. While I’m not going to finish reading all six books I planned I planned for my read-a-thon TBR pile, I did make great progress compared to June. I also ended up counting A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller to my favourites this year. I adored this book so so much, I couldn’t stop hugging it when I finished it.
