Hot off the Press – October 17, 2016

October 18, 2016

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comEvery week I try to think of something to say that relates to the books that are newly publishing. Every week I struggle because what I can I add that is of value? At the end of the day, though, does it even matter? Does anyone bother to read this introductory section? I suspect if you’re here, then you skip right ahead to take a look at the books. If that’s not the case, prove me wrong and tell me otherwise in the comments below.

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comThere are quite a number of new releases to choose from this week. Historical fiction lovers, however, will have to content themselves with To Stay Alive by Skila Brown. If novels in verse aren’t your thing, Iron Cast by Destiny Soria might meet your demands instead. While it’s a work of fantasy, it is set in 1919 Boston.

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comOctober is off to a wondrous start with a fair number of new YA releases hitting the shelves this first week. Several of them have garnered hype in the book blogosphere, such as the long-awaited Replica by Lauren Oliver. While the blurb of Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven received negative attention earlier this year, the book itself has been very well-received by early readers. As of today, the average Goodreads rating stands at 4.13 out of 5 stars. When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore and Everyone We’ve Been by Sarah Everett have matching average ratings on Goodreads, adding to the list of books to look out for.

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comAmidst the frenzy over the release of Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo, it seems other books have fallen off the radar. For fans of Rosamund Hodge, you’ll want to pick up Bright Smoke, Cold Fire! Don’t forget sequels to the series you started either as Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson, and Swarm by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan & Deborah Biancotti hit the shelves this week.
