Bout of Books 33, the First of 2022

January 3, 2022

Stack of two books entitled "Truest" and "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" on a wooden desk with a lit candle and coaster on top. A branch of dried eucalyptus is in front of the books, partially covering the spine of "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue". Image is overlaid with a box in which the title and subtitle are stated — Bout of Books 33, the First of 2022: Ready to tackle my TBR pile with a week-long read-a-thonHappy new year, friends! I’m pretty excited because I decided that 2022 is the year I finally make a dent in my TBR pile and read my bookshelf. I started off with owning 399 unread paper books and ebooks combined, and I’m determined that by the end of the year I’ll be much, much closer to 300.

That’s right, I though it’s next week. Good thing I checked the Twitter updates last nights just to be sure. Good thing I did! Otherwise, I would’ve missed it.

AMERICAN PANDA by Gloria Chao (with Twitter Giveaway)

February 6, 2018

Book cover & rating - AMERICAN PANDA by Gloria ChaoYoung adult books set in college, or even about the summer before college, aren’t all too common. That’s why I was surprised when I first learnt that American Panda is set at MIT. Well, Mei is 17 years old as she enters a year early but it works out well for this book. Mei had a sheltered upbringing, which is very evident as she tries to find her place at university.

Hi, hello, welcome! If you’re a fellow Bout of Books participant, worried about the non-existent TBR pile, you’re not alone! I don’t have any, and am just about managing to read a chapter on the first day. On the upside, there are six more to go.
