Young adult books set in college, or even about the summer before college, aren’t all too common. That’s why I was surprised when I first learnt that American Panda is set at MIT. Well, Mei is 17 years old as she enters a year early but it works out well for this book. Mei had a sheltered upbringing, which is very evident as she tries to find her place at university.

A Quiet Birthday (with a Giveaway)
As the years go by, birthdays tone down a whole lot. Gone are the parties to which large circles of friends were extended. Presents become a rarity and on the whole, that “special” day passes like any other. Case in point, nothing out of the ordinary happened yesterday, though I did bake a walnut cake.
Launching Word Revel
Cue the cheers for Dudette Reads has grown up into Word Revel! I’m mighty excited about this because Dudette Reads was never meant to exist as long as it did. Dudette Reads was a placeholder to get me started. Say, it was an experimental platform of sorts while I figured things out. This means that the move to Word Revel was inevitable, and I’m really happy that the day has finally come.
