Though there aren’t any particularly hyped books coming out this week, there are a substantial number of titles to choose from. Markedly absent from the new releases is historical fiction again. Other than that, I’m sure there’s something to satisfy every reading taste. Remember, clicking on the book covers will lead you to Goodreads where you can read the synopses to find out more.
Leio: Track and Plan Your Reading Life
Last week I discovered this simple but magnificent iOS app called Leio. Leio is a reading tracker. Much like a fitness tracker, it has a timer, computes speed and allows you to set goals — except, the focus is on reading.
A MONSTER CALLS by Patrick Ness
A Monster Calls was amazing in the complexity it conveyed through a simple story. I really wasn’t expecting it to be so heart-wrenching, let alone a cathartic read. Aimed at a much younger reader than I am, I thought I’d walk away liking this book, at best. Middle Grade to Young Adult books for younger teens rarely hold my attention anymore the way they used to, so I tend to avoid them.
Hot off the Press – October 17, 2016
Every week I try to think of something to say that relates to the books that are newly publishing. Every week I struggle because what I can I add that is of value? At the end of the day, though, does it even matter? Does anyone bother to read this introductory section? I suspect if you’re here, then you skip right ahead to take a look at the books. I trawled the App Store every other week for new apps, considered recommendations from photographers and read posts from bloggers across various niches.
