Customer Service at Book Depository

June 30, 2015

Hardcover of P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny HanAs much as I prefer ordering books online for the price and convenience, the waiting time does bother me. It’s been taking longer and longer for shipments to be dispatched, which doesn’t coincide with the estimated delivery times listed on Book Depository. I find this rather problematic when it comes to pre-orders that I want to read before all the spoilers emerge. Though for the most part the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Mise-en-scène #22: Sun

June 26, 2015

Mise-en-scene Sun: Contemporary YA book stackWhat better books to read in summer than contemporary ones? As much as I have recently fallen into the pits of fantasy, sunny days make me wanna curl up with books that add to the summery mood.

5 Reasons for Multi-Format Reading

June 24, 2015

Multi-format reading with ACOTARWhat is multi-format reading? you might ask. Well, it’s the most accurate term I could think of to describe the kind of reading I do every once in a while: switching among various formats while reading one particular book title. For example, right now I’m reading All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I started with the audiobook but once in a while I switch and read the paperback.

CLEAN by Amy Reed

June 23, 2015

Book cover of CLEAN by Amy ReedClean is a book that thoroughly surprised me. Firstly, I thought this book would be about mental illness. Actually it’s about addiction. I should’ve realized that before I started reading but as usual, I hardly glanced at the synopsis. Secondly, I was impressed with how the characters were portrayed in terms of depth, development and voice. Best of all, I was amazed by the writing style. It was on the experimental side, which I hadn’t expected.

Mise-en-scène #21: Hopeless Romantic

June 20, 2015

Mise-en-scene Hopeless Romantic: Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah OcklerThis week’s theme had me completely stumped. Hopeless romantic? That’s not a phrase anyone would use to describe me. I was hard pressed to think of any books with romance as the central theme that I loved. There are many I’ve loved where romance was the subplot but when romance is the primary plot, that’s almost an automatic reduced star rating from me.
