For over two years, I regularly rounded up the latest young adult releases as well as reissued paperback editions. Each round took me at least two hours or three to pull together all the titles. These are hours that I’m no longer prepared to invest in collating book releases.
A CLOSED AND COMMON ORBIT by Becky Chambers
As a standalone sequel, A Closed and Common Orbit did well to outline the setting. I think new readers would be able to understand things just fine. At the same time, it further expanded the world building for those who’ve read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. The characters remained central to the plot of A Closed and Common Orbit as well, thereby justifying the slow pacing.
December 2017 Overview
Last month, we moved back home, as the major works of our renovations were done. This also meant that I had to avail myself on those days that workers came in to continue, so I didn’t have much spare time left to read. In the end, I read 6 books. Three were hardcovers, two were audiobooks, and one was a paperback.
LOVE, HATE & OTHER FILTERS by Samira Ahmed
Hot off the Press – January 15, 2018
This week is a surprisingly quiet publishing week for Young Adult books. Of the books out hit week, I’ve read Love, Hate & Other Things by Samira Ahmed. If you’re up for fluffy romance, definitely pick this one up! At the same time, it deals with Islamophobia, terrorism and white supremacy, which makes it extremely relevant today.
