ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

July 27, 2016

Book cover & rating - ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSEAristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe was beautiful! I’ve had the hardcover on my bookshelves for over two years. I also knew that Lin-Manuel Miranda was an excellent narrator. But the more people told me to read it, the more I put it off. Yes, I blame my irrational brain. I wanted to read it but then I refused because others encouraged me to. Thankfully, Hazel picked it for our June Epic Recs, so I couldn’t deny her pick. I went on to alternate between print and audio.

Kindle Upgrade

Kindle Upgrade: Comparing first generations Kindle Oasis and Kindle PaperwhiteThree months ago I weighed in on the Kindle Oasis ahead of its release date. I noted the features I wished Amazon had announced and evaluated what they did announce. The Kindle Oasis wasn’t the ideal device that I wished for but in the end, I still decided to upgrade from my Kindle Paperwhite (2012).

Project 52 – Beach

July 22, 2016

Bookish Scene: Project 52 – Beach (The Passenger by Alexandra Bracken)In light of this week’s theme, Beach, of course I had to set out to the seaside. Actually I was hoping for a sunny day to capture a summery vacation mood. Alas, the weather didn’t agree with me. Instead, it was overcast with the constant threat of rain. Thankfully, the view was clear enough to see Malaysia on the horizon. So with the help of my sister I then managed to capture the moody waters to match the beautiful cover of The Passenger by Alexandra Bracken.

Project 52 – Nature

Bookish Scene: Project 52 – Nature (The Chimes by Anna Smaill)In order to take this week’s photo for the Nature theme, I brought out The Chimes by Anna Smaill into the green. Rather than pay attention to the content of the book, I was more concerned with the aesthetic. The cover is bright and the colours pop, as do flowers in the wild. Although, it does feature the waters, which is essential to sustain nature.

THE WELL OF ASCENSION by Brandon Sanderson

July 15, 2016

Book cover & rating - The Well of Ascension by Brandon SandersonThe Well of Ascension was an amazing sequel! It carried on with the rich detail that The Final Empire introduced. I loved learning even more about Scadrial and advancing my understanding of Allomancy and Feruchemy.
