THE BOOK OF BROKEN HEARTS by Sarah Ockler

November 5, 2013

By the time I finished reading The Book of Broken Hearts I was in tears but smiling right through them. You see, this is the first time I read a book by Sarah Ockler, so up to now I’ve had to just take others for their word that her books are well-written. At first I…

THE SPACE BETWEEN US by Jessica Martinez

September 18, 2013

Book cover of THE SPACE BETWEEN US by Jessica MartinezAmelia’s younger sister, Charlotte, better known as Charly, always gets into trouble. But everybody loves her anyway. She’s a crazy and colourful character whose shenanigans tend to be nothing more than pure mischief on her part. Being the elder sister in a household with their father and grandmother means Amelia takes care of her younger sister and also covers for her, so she doesn’t get into too much trouble.

POSSESSION by Elena Johnson

July 3, 2013

Book cover of POSSESSION (Possession #1) by Elena JohnsonI still am surprised that I made it past the first 100 pages and went on to complete Possession. The writing was mechanical and some parts made next to no sense. Sure, Vi’s world is not a world that we know, so things naturally are different. No matter how different and imaginative her world is though, it is possible to weave in explanations into the story without stilting the writing. Sadly, I was confused and and hated the stilted writing style.
