THE RULES FOR DISAPPEARING (The Rules for Disappearing #1) by Ashley Elston

January 29, 2014

I’m not sure what it is with me and endings. I noticed that every now and then I get really engrossed in a book, thinking I’ve found one I really enjoy, only to be disappointed by the ending. Maybe it has something to do with cliffhangers? When I first picked up The Rules for Disappearing,…

GOLDEN by Jessi Kirby

January 22, 2014

GOLDEN by Jessi KirbyGolden left me a little torn. On one hand, I really enjoyed it but on the other, it left me feeling unmoved. The prose was beautiful. The introspectiveness of it pulled me right in when I opened the book and read the first few pages.

OUT OF TUNE by Michelle D. Argyle

December 31, 2013

Out of Tune is the last book I finished reading before the new year, and I am glad that it is also the last one I get to review this year because it’s a good book to remember the end of 2013 by. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the depth it offers alongside the roller…

LET IT SNOW by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle

December 28, 2013

Book cover of LET IT SNOW by John Gree, Maureen Johnson and Lauren MyracleEven though Let it Snow was published as a single book, it contains three stories told by each of the three authors. In that sense, it’s more like three novellas but with a twist. They’re not entirely stand-alone, even though they could be. One can in good conscience choose to read just one of these stories and forgo the other two but I wouldn’t recommend it. I say, read all three, and be taken in by some Christmas magic! And why pick it up now that the 25th of December has passed? Take it from Mayzie (you’ll meet her in The Patron Saint of Pigs.

COFFEEHOUSE ANGEL by Suzanne Selfors

December 22, 2013

Finally a holiday read that I enjoyed cozying up with! Coffeehouse Angel is a delightful book about friendship, romance, hope and a little bit of mystery. Set in a little quaint town beset with Norwegian traditions, it captures the warmth of winter. Yes, oxymoronic but true. As low as temperatures might drop, there’s always something…
