MARIAM SHARMA HITS THE ROAD by Sheba Karim

April 12, 2019

Book cover & and 4-star rating for MARIAM SHARMA HITS THE ROAD by Sheba KarimI’m not particularly fond of books in which the entire plot revolves around travelling from point A to point B. Yet, I tend to be drawn to road trip novels. I suppose this stems in part from the fact that I suffer from motion sickness. Actual road trips therefore aren’t exactly enjoyable. And so, reading is a way for me to experience these vicariously. On that front, Mariam Sharma Hits the Road absolutely delivered. I felt right at home with this trio.

LOVE, HATE & OTHER FILTERS by Samira Ahmed

January 16, 2018

Book cover & rating - LOVE, HATE & OTHER FILTERS by Samira AhmedWhere do I begin with Love, Hate & Other Filters? Even though it has less than 300 pages, there is so much to unpack! It touches on themes of cultural and religious diversity, to romance, to extremism and terrorism. That might seem like quite a lot but I think they’re dealt with pretty well.

I LOVE I HATE I MISS MY SISTER by Amélie Sarn

August 12, 2014

I LOVE I HATE I MISS MY SISTER by Amelie SarnI Love I Hate I Miss My Sister arrived in the mail yesterday, just about a week after publication. When I had it in my hands, I did something I rarely do when a book arrives: read. Since I Love I Hate I Miss My Sister is such a short book, I decided to keep reading, thinking I might as well finish it one go. And finish it I did. I started reading at 10 p.m. and was done by 12.30 a.m. Just as well, since I pre-ordered it.

BESTEST. RAMADAN. EVER. by Medeia Sharif

August 6, 2013

In light of Ramadan, it seemed fitting to finally pick up Bestest. Ramadan. Ever. With the pink swirls on the cover, the depiction of a guy and a girl together with that pastel-creamed cupcake, I expected a feel-good kind of book. What I did not expect was a load of fluff to boot. Perhaps the…
