This week’s Retrospect is rather different because it’s not one of my usual weekly recaps. I took a vacation not only from my everyday life but from blogging and social media as well. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have news to share.
Retrospect #71: May 10
Two things: my sister’s finally on her semester break, which means all the book pushing commences! I’m starting her off with Cinder and The Raven Boys. I can’t wait to see what she thinks of them. It’s always fun discussing books with her. Sadly, she has next to no time to read during the semesters when she’s swamped with projects at uni. The other thing is, I’m finally gonna be off for my vacation this week. Exciting stuff!

Cherish the Backlist
Last week I considered if pre-publication hype causes weariness. The responses have been somewhat mixed, as some thought that this is how they learnt of new books. On the flip side, when the hype gets to many, the enjoyment of the new books can be compromised.
Retrospect #70: May 3
If there’s on thing to be said about this week, it’s the week that the sad news broke about The Raven King. It was originally supposed to be published in September this year but not anymore. Now it’s slated for February 2016. Maggie Stiefvater explained on her blog why the last book in The Raven Cycle series will come out five months later.
