The Rest of Us Just Live Here Paperback with CandleSometimes the light conditions aren’t ideal when we do have time to take our bookstagram photos. In this case, I took the photo on an overcast day, so the light in my study wasn’t even. This can be seen by the overexposed book spine which was directly facing my window. This problem can be fixed in Photoshop with the burn tool.

Once in a while though, I find myself playing around with hues; such as the book cover of Vicious compelled me to do. By changing hues, I could render a myriad of alternative versions, which was loads of fun. Occasionally, being able to manipulate those colours can help make a photo stand out more.

The screen of my Kindle Paperwhite often has a much stronger blue tint than my eyes perceive. My iPhone screen tends to look a lot more pink in photos than it should.

If anything, the fun in photographing ebooks and audiobooks lies in the challenge they pose. Bookshelves and book stacks are not an option but there are other ways to add interest to digitised books.
