Initially I meant to write a pure book review, assessing the merits of The Good Immigrant. Considering how much of my own existence is reflected in these essays, I felt compelled to go beyond that.
Nostalgia for the Present
Even though I had a difficult time getting into Feed and was bored out of my wits for the most part, there were snippets that sprung out at me. I suppose there is something about science fiction that explores so much of out human condition, there’s bound to be something that captures my interest, no matter how little I like a book.

Where is Home?
Where are you from? is a simple enough question to answer, no? Well, not really. At least not for me. Especially not when people want to know what my hometown is. I just about lived to see my first birthday in the town I was born in before my parents decided to move. My mum, my sister and I were all born in different countries. I’m bi-racial (or multi-racial if I trace my lineage three to four generations back) and currently live in a country where none of my family members were born in.
Introducing: Reflect
Writing book reviews, for me, is a way to record my thoughts and feelings about the books that I read. At the same time, they offer a good way for me to look back on those books without needing to re-read them because, let’s face it, I am not a big re-reader. I don’t have…
