VENGEFUL by V.E. Schwab

December 26, 2018

Book cover & 5-star rating - VENGEFUL by V.E. SchwabWhen I first heard that Vicious, a book that was published as a standalone, was going to have a sequel, I wasn’t all too excited. I didn’t think it needed a sequel. Plus, I didn’t want to be disappointed by yet another title shoved into a series that it wasn’t supposed to be a part of.

ARCHENEMIES by Marissa Meyer

November 25, 2018

Book cover & rating - ARCHENEMIES by Marissa MeyerWhen Renegades came out last year, I liked it but didn’t love it. At the same time though, I thought this new series had potential and was excited to continue reading. Now I’m happy to report that Archenemies lived up to those expectations. It’s everything I hoped for and more!

MIRAGE by Somaiya Daud

October 18, 2018

Book cover & rating - MIRAGE by Somaiya DaudFor some reason, I’ve had a significant slow down with YA novels this year. I’ve just not been able to settle down and focus on reading, no matter how intriguing various books sound. Most of the time I’ve resorted to audiobooks for which I tend to pick non-fiction books. Thanks to a long haul flight though, I had no distractions to keep me from Mirage. I was happily entertained.

NOT THE GIRLS YOU’RE LOOKING FOR by Aminah Mae Safi

October 6, 2018

Book cover & rating - NOT THE GIRLS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR by Aminah Mae SafiNot the Girls You’re Looking For is way more hard hitting than I had expected. Based on the synopsis I thought it’d be a fun, fluffy high school read with a dash of drama. Sure, there’s drama and the prose is typical of that sort of book but it is a whole lot more intense.

THE POET X by Elizabeth Acevedo

March 16, 2018

Book cover & rating - The Poet X by Elizabeth AcevedoUsually, when I find out a book is a novel in verse, I will skip it. The Poet X, however, sounded so relatable, that I stepped out of my reading comfort zone. Let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it!
