Mise-en-scène: Coldness

December 11, 2015

Mise-en-scene: Coldness – The Gospel of Winter with sweater and Christmassy mugWith the monsoon season in full swing, December’s filled with the coldness of stormy days. It’s not as cold as icy winter days but for the tropics, these are our dreary days. During this time of the year, I like to grab my favourite sweater, brew a cup of tea in a Christmassy mug and curl up with a book befitting of the season.

Overview: November 2015

Word Revel Overview November 2015My five weeks in Europe came to a conclusion at the beginning of October. I think the amount of time away was exactly right. It would’ve been nice to travel more but I had seen and done enough to feel like I was ready to get back. While I didn’t miss the heat, I did miss sleeping in my own bed. The time spent travelling offered much respite and solitude, so I returned home refreshed and with more positivity.

Grief over Managing Ebooks with Adobe Digital Editions

December 9, 2015

Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac in front of bookshelfDigital Rights Management (DRM) is a very sticky issue when it comes to ebooks. You can’t get around it. Even if you break the DRM of an ebook, you still must deal with it. Two dominant systems of DRM are governed by the Amazon Kindle and Adobe EPUB. Basically, these only allow you to access digital media through selected licensed devices.

FRIENDS WITH BOYS by Faith Erin Hicks

December 8, 2015

Book cover of FRIENDS WITH BOYS by Faith Erin HicksFor the most part, I enjoyed Friends with Boys but… there are two buts. Firstly, the title is infinitely deceiving. Boys shouldn’t be plural. The boys in her life were her brothers. The boy who was a friend wasn’t the focus either. I’d say a more appropriate title would’ve been this: Finally Friends with a Girl. Secondly, were did the ending go to? Quite literally, I thought my copy was missing pages.

December 7, 2015

YA books hot off the pressThe Trouble With Destiny has been on my radar since last year since I’ve read Being Sloane by Lauren Morrill. I hadn’t actually heard of the other titles before. Have you? Are you looking forward to any of this week’s releases?
