TWEET CUTE by Emma Lord

November 5, 2020

Book cover & 4.5-star rating - Tweet Cute by Emma LordTweet Cute was so much more relatable than I had anticipated. Based off the title alone, I probably wouldn’t have picked up the audiobook. But I did remember enjoying Open Road Summer years ago, not realising that Emma Lord wasn’t Emery Lord. Oops. ‘Twas a good mix-up though because I really enjoyed Tweet Cute.

NOT THE GIRLS YOU’RE LOOKING FOR by Aminah Mae Safi

October 6, 2018

Book cover & rating - NOT THE GIRLS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR by Aminah Mae SafiNot the Girls You’re Looking For is way more hard hitting than I had expected. Based on the synopsis I thought it’d be a fun, fluffy high school read with a dash of drama. Sure, there’s drama and the prose is typical of that sort of book but it is a whole lot more intense.

LEGENDARY by Stephanie Garber

September 2, 2018

Book cover & rating - Legendary by Stephanie GarberIn 2017, I counted Caraval to my favourites of the year. It’s no wonder that I was super excited for the sequel. Thus, it’s with a heavy heart that I’m rating it 3 out of 5 stars. The problem for me was that Legendary was more of the same. Now, more of the same should be a great thing if you loved the original. So what went wrong?

RENEGADES by Marissa Meyer

November 9, 2017

Book cover & rating - RENEGADES by Marissa MeyerExplorations of good versus evil that are firmly cemented in the grey zone often give rise to the best works of fiction. They also are the types of books I live for! So when I learnt that Marissa Meyer decided to venture there with her latest series, of course I was intrigued. Renegades has much to offer and despite some flaws that made me raise an eyebrow, is a promising start to the series.
