ANGELFALL (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan EE

December 16, 2014

ANGELFALL (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan EeTruth be told, I decided to pick up Angelfall because I could get the audiobook for free via Kindle Unlimited. Angelfall wasn’t actually on my TBR list but I was in search for an audiobook and practically all my friends on Goodreads who read the book liked it. Only one person was disappointed, so the odds were in my favour. This also meant that since I hadn’t planned on reading it, I had zero expectations.

BEAUTY QUEENS by Libba Bray

BEAUTY QUEENS by Libba BrayOne thing to be said about Beauty Queens is that it’s way over the top. As much as many have referred to the book as satire, I think it got lost in trying too hard to be funny. Some events were just so ludicrous, they were too far removed from social commentary. Maybe it’s because of that that I was hard pressed to enjoy Beauty Queens. “Give it a chance. Things will get better after a while,” I kept thinking. Things didn’t get better—at least not in my opinion.

MORE THAN THIS by Patrick Ness

Book cover of MORE THAN THIS by Patrick NessWhen I was done reading, I felt gobsmacked. More Than This is utterly confusing. Not because it lacks clarity of thought or writing. No. Rather, because existentialist questions somehow can never be answered to the full satisfaction of anyone. Every answer inevitably leads to new questions.

THE RULES FOR DISAPPEARING (The Rules for Disappearing #1) by Ashley Elston

January 29, 2014

I’m not sure what it is with me and endings. I noticed that every now and then I get really engrossed in a book, thinking I’ve found one I really enjoy, only to be disappointed by the ending. Maybe it has something to do with cliffhangers? When I first picked up The Rules for Disappearing,…

DARK STAR (The Rosie Black Chronicles #3) by Lara Morgan

DARK STAR (The Rosie Black Chronicles #3) by Lara MorganAfter I was done reading Dark Star, I was pretty satisfied with how the trilogy ended. While I didn’t yearn for another book to extend the series, I didn’t wish for less either. Three books for this trilogy was the perfect number to build up the story and to wrap it up in the end.
