Project 52 – Sunshine

May 14, 2016

Bookish Scene: Sunshine - Map of WinterspellIt’s been raining incessantly over the past week, so the sun hasn’t been out all that much. On the upside, that means temperatures have been more moderate at 25 to 27°C. Thankfully, the sun still shines through the clouds every now and then, adding some much needed cheer.

Reading My Heart Out with Bout of Books 16

May 8, 2016

Bout of Books 16: TBR pile for coming read-a-thonBack in January I took part in Bout of Books for the very first time. While the outcome of that read-a-thon wasn’t all too stellar for me, I’ve since picked up my reading groove and am looking for a little bit of extra motivation. With that, I’m in again this round.

Project 52 – Mother’s Love

May 6, 2016

Bookish Scene - Mother's Love: The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava LavenderIn honour of Mother’s Day, this week’s book photo challenge theme is Mother’s Love. The first book that came to my mind as representative of this is The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. It’s been more than a year since I read it but what has left an impression on is the focus on women from three generations — Ava, her mother and her grandmother. It traces Ava’s present day as well as the magical history that preceded her through her mother and her mother’s mother.

Hot off the Press – May 2, 2016

May 5, 2016

Hot off the Press — Stay up to date with weekly YA releases | wordrevel.comSo much to read, so little time. That statement couldn’t ring any more true this week. With 47(!) new releases to start off the month of May, we’d never get through them all, even if we were full-time readers. On the other hand, being spoilt for choice means that we’re pretty much guaranteed to find a favourite or even a few among these.
