Going into books blind, particularly books like Vicious, can be infinitely thrilling. You enter unexplored land and everything is new. You don’t follow the tracks paved by expectations built upon the reading experiences of others. The cover states that it’s “a twisted tale of ambition, desire and superpowers”. It’s very correct in that description. That’s your starting point if you’re up for a thrill. If that’s you, then go on, pick up the book, read it and return to my review later to share your excitement. Now, if you’d rather know what you’re getting yourself into, read on.
SAINT ANYTHING by Sarah Dessen
Saint Anything wasn’t a book I had meant to read. I figured that the three unread Dessen books that I own should take priority and I don’t even know when I’ll get down to reading any of them. Perhaps I’ll read one later this year since I did like this latest release of hers. The reason I decided to listen to the audiobook of Saint Anything was that it happened to be available to me via Overdrive, so I decided to borrow it on a whim.
PREP SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (Prep School Confidential #1) by Kara Taylor
When I was younger, I used to read a lot of murder mysteries with female protagonists. I read one book after the other. Sadly, I don’t remember the authors or the titles but I do know where they used to reside on the library shelves. As it is, most of the books published in the late 1990s and early 2000s have mostly been taken from those shelves, so I’ll probably never know again which books I read. But there is one thing I do remember: all those clichés! It’s no wonder that after two or three dozen, I was done with them.
