FRIENDS WITH BOYS by Faith Erin Hicks

December 8, 2015

Book cover of FRIENDS WITH BOYS by Faith Erin HicksFor the most part, I enjoyed Friends with Boys but… there are two buts. Firstly, the title is infinitely deceiving. Boys shouldn’t be plural. The boys in her life were her brothers. The boy who was a friend wasn’t the focus either. I’d say a more appropriate title would’ve been this: Finally Friends with a Girl. Secondly, were did the ending go to? Quite literally, I thought my copy was missing pages.

FALLING INTO PLACE by Amy Zhang

November 14, 2015

Audiobook cover of FALLING INTO PLACE by Amy ZhangWhen I first finished reading Falling into Place, I didn’t know how to rate it. It spoke to me in the most painful manner. No other book in recent memory has made me cry so much. When I wasn’t crying, I was on the verge of tears. The rest of the time I was uncomfortable. Liz wasn’t a nice person and yet I felt a connection because a lot of her thoughts had been mine before.

THE RULE OF THIRDS (Pippa Greene #1) by Chantel Guertin

September 9, 2015

Book cover of THE RULE OF THIRDS (Pippa Greene #1) by Chantel GuertinLet’s start with the best part of The Rule of Thirds: photography is front and centre! Pippa Greene loves photography. She lives and breathes it, is in the school photography club and is gearing up to take part in a photography competition. As someone who loves photography, I’m always sad at the lack of it in the books I’ve read. A lot has been written about music and art but photography has mostly been missing. Well, here we have a good book in The Rule of Thirds.

THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE by Patrick Ness

August 24, 2015

Book cover of The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick NessGoing into The Rest of Us Just Live Here I felt very disconcerted. The main text reads like a contemporary book but each chapter starts with insights on the Chosen Ones and the gods above. There are however overlaps that can be seen when the paranormal events have an impact on the ordinary people. This makes the setting a very strange yet familiar one.

SAINT ANYTHING by Sarah Dessen

August 13, 2015

Audiobook cover of SAINT ANYTHING by Sarah DessenSaint Anything wasn’t a book I had meant to read. I figured that the three unread Dessen books that I own should take priority and I don’t even know when I’ll get down to reading any of them. Perhaps I’ll read one later this year since I did like this latest release of hers. The reason I decided to listen to the audiobook of Saint Anything was that it happened to be available to me via Overdrive, so I decided to borrow it on a whim.
