I can’t remember the last time I loved a book that made me so so angry! Virtuosity did it for me. I must say I experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions. There were moments I felt happy and mesmerised and others where I felt sad and furious. Martinez writes beautifully and knows how to surprise her readers, which I already said about her second book, The Space Between Us. They are moving stories with beautiful prose and lots of surprises.
DARK STAR (The Rosie Black Chronicles #3) by Lara Morgan
After I was done reading Dark Star, I was pretty satisfied with how the trilogy ended. While I didn’t yearn for another book to extend the series, I didn’t wish for less either. Three books for this trilogy was the perfect number to build up the story and to wrap it up in the end.
EQUINOX (The Rosie Black Chronicles #2) by Lara Morgan
Equinox continues right there where Genesis left off. True to all the twists and turns encountered in the first book of the trilogy, this book serves up many surprises. In the same vain, it was also confusing. Once again, questions spring to mind about who belongs to Helios, who belongs to the Senate and who is following Riley. With all the double crossing and switching sides business, I do recommend reading the books one after the other instead of waiting it out and forgetting about the plot altogether.
AN ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES by John Green
For once I’m not entirely sure if my dislike for the book purely stems from the book itself or from the expectations that arose prior to reading the book because a very popular author wrote this. An Abundance of Katherines is the first full-length novel of John Green that I got my hands on. The first sentence had me totally hooked but no single sentence can sustain a whole book. No matter how good that sentence is. Despite my growing reservations, I decided to continue reading, even staying up till 3 a.m. one night just to complete it. Sleep would’ve been time better spent on my part.
OUT OF TUNE by Michelle D. Argyle
Out of Tune is the last book I finished reading before the new year, and I am glad that it is also the last one I get to review this year because it’s a good book to remember the end of 2013 by. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the depth it offers alongside the roller…
