TEASE by Amanda Maciel

July 26, 2014

TEASE by Amanda MacielSome might find it difficult to read a book about bullying from the perspective of the one who bullied. That is exactly the perspective that Tease offers. It is not a book that can be taken lightly. Neither is it a book about a victim of bullying who overcomes her plight. No, it is a story about the bully after her victim committed suicide.

THERE WILL COME A TIME by Carrie Arcos

THERE WILL COME A TIME by Carrie ArcosThere Will Come a Time was such a great book for me. I know it’s supposed to be a very sad book as it deals with the the loss of a twin in a car crash. For what it’s worth though, I enjoyed There Will Come a Time very much. It was so moving due to the emotions that were palpable throughout the book.

THE BREAK-UP ARTIST by Philip Siegel

THE BREAK-UP ARTIST by Philip SiegelConsidering how much of a cynic or a realist I am (depending on whom you ask), The Break-Up Artist should’ve been the perfect book for me. The premise drew me to The Break-Up Artist in an instant. I thought I would meet an anti-hero but I didn’t. I thought I would finally not have to roll my eyes at cliché lines. That held up for a good part of the book, until I did roll my eyes.

NOW I’LL TELL YOU EVERYTHING (Alice #25) by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

March 25, 2014

Closure is something that we often seek to come to terms with the end of something. Often it helps us resolve issues, so we can move on with our lives without dwelling too much on the past. Yet once in a while the time comes that closure is no longer necessary. It’s way past overdue…

MORE THAN THIS by Patrick Ness

March 19, 2014

Book cover of MORE THAN THIS by Patrick NessWhen I was done reading, I felt gobsmacked. More Than This is utterly confusing. Not because it lacks clarity of thought or writing. No. Rather, because existentialist questions somehow can never be answered to the full satisfaction of anyone. Every answer inevitably leads to new questions.

· Categories: Fiction Keywords: american authors, brothers, cheating, death, diversity, domestic violence, existentialism, family problems, friendship, futuristic, hope, lgbtq characters, life, loneliness, multiculturalism, murder, post-apocalyptic, siblinghood, suicide, survival, violence
